BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Prepared for high winds, fire crews on the Four Corners Fire made the most of the situation on Monday when storms to the north and east skirted the fire area.
Defensive preparations around God's Acres were completed and significant progress was made in the French Creek residential area.
Roadside brush was removedto improve access to Campbell Creek residences, and vegetation is being reduced and hoses are being set up along fireline near private property.
Water scooper planes dropped water on hot spots and assisted fire crews in other areas by keeping fires from growing.
Calmer weather conditions today may help with burning out, a strategy where grass and brush along fireline is intentionally burned. Any burn out today will occur on the western side of the fire perimeter.
Fire personnel will continue to secure the perimeter on the north and west sides of the fire. Crews will work to establish direct and indirect line using trails and natural barriers along the southern perimeter.

Boaters on Lake Cascade should be cautious and aware that water scooping planes and helicopters may use the lake to draw water. Use caution when along Lakeshore Drive due to the fire traffic.
Residences in God’s Acres and French Creek are under evacuation status. The Campbell Creek area is under pre-evacuation notice. Others in the vicinity are encouraged to consider evacuation preparations. Kelly’s Whitewater Park is open to evacuees. As of Aug. 23, the Four Corners Fire is 8,208 acres and 11% contained. 649 personnel are assigned to the fire.
